New Role – Technical Sales Lead at MicroWarehouse Ltd.

Later this morning, I start a new job as a technical sales lead at MicroWarehouse Ltd.  This company is one of the biggest software distributors (and lots of other stuff) in Ireland and deals with a lot of Microsoft partners on a daily basis, selling them software and helping them with client engagements.

My role will be very much like that of a Partner Technical Advisor (PTA) in Microsoft.  In fact, the job spec is identical.  I will be working with our customers, who are Microsoft partners, to identify partners with potential sales/solutions growth, and to work with them to increase their sales.  This may require some sales/marketing (I’m moving to the dark side!), some education/training, and assistance with early implementations.  And I will be on the road a lot.

Why am I leaving System Dynamics Ireland after just 11 months?  They weren’t a good fit.  When I landed there, I found that there was a lack of experience in IT infrastructure.  That ruled us out of so much business.  I spent a frustrating amount of time on the bench and I decided that it was best for all concerned that I look elsewhere.

I start late this morning, and I have the feeling that there’s already a queue of work waiting for me.  My work laptop has already been pre-ordered: a nice HP mobile workstation capable of 16 GB RAM and dual hard drives: nice for Hyper-V and demos!
