Microsoft has released a new version of the Windows Server 2003/2008 Failover Clustering management pack for Operations Manager 2007. This is just 2 months after the original release. I will be steering clear of it for several months. We got burned by one of the required updates because it broke WMI access to the Failover Clustering service. This broke VMM 2008’s ability to manage our Hyper-V cluster – I still had control using the Failover Clustering and Hyper-V MMC’s. Microsoft had withdrawn the update and hadn’t announced it.
If you do deploy this on a VMM 2008 managed Hyper-V cluster and it does work out OK then please let me know. Until then, I’m using a 10 foot bargepole. I hate that I have to do this but I’ve a production system to protect.
