{"id":9808,"date":"2009-07-31T12:10:00","date_gmt":"1999-11-29T20:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aidanfinn.com\/?p=9808"},"modified":"2009-07-31T12:10:00","modified_gmt":"1999-11-29T20:00:00","slug":"reports-randomly-failing-in-system-center-operations-manager-2007-r2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aidanfinn.com\/?p=9808","title":{"rendered":"Reports Randomly Failing In System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I had a problem this week when I was trying to run some reports in OpsMgr 2007 R2.\u00a0 Some reports were failing \u2026 either issues to do with \u201cLT_Report\u201d, missing parameters or internal failures.\u00a0 If I played with the time settings for the report criteria then sometimes I\u2019d get a result but not the one I was chasing.\u00a0 The SQL Reporting database is running on SQL 2005.\u00a0 I upgraded it to SP3 and that fixed the issue \u2013 I\u2019m a bit hesitant about installing SQL service packs.<\/p>\n<p>I really like the reporting feature of SCOM.\u00a0 The reports in MOM 2005 always struck be as a bolt on.\u00a0 Information and reports are an integral component of OpsMgr 2007 and 2007 R2.\u00a0 You can navigate to just about any item in the monitoring view of the Operations Console and get a context sensitive link to the report console in the Tasks pane.<\/p>\n<p>Reports can have hyperlinks to view further material.\u00a0 For example, this week I\u2019ve run availability reports on Hyper-V virtual machines, physical hosts, operating system installations and web sites.\u00a0 A client asked about the uptime of a website on a server.\u00a0 Bang: out came a report showing 100% up time.<\/p>\n<p>You can build on this with Distribute Application modelling and the SLA (Service Level Agreement) module.\u00a0 This allows you to get the ITIL view of your services (not windows services but services provided to users\/customers).\u00a0 You can then run reports on the SLA compliance.\u00a0 How sweet is that?<\/p>\n<p><div style=\"padding-bottom:0px;margin:0px;padding-left:0px;padding-right:0px;display:inline;float:none;padding-top:0px\">del.icio.us Tags: <a href=\"http:\/\/del.icio.us\/popular\/System+Center+Operations+Manager+2007+R2\" rel=\"tag\">System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2<\/a>,<a href=\"http:\/\/del.icio.us\/popular\/Reporting\" rel=\"tag\">Reporting<\/a><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p><div style=\"padding-bottom:0px;margin:0px;padding-left:0px;padding-right:0px;display:inline;float:none;padding-top:0px\">Technorati Tags: <a href=\"http:\/\/technorati.com\/tags\/System+Center+Operations+Manager+2007+R2\" rel=\"tag\">System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2<\/a>,<a href=\"http:\/\/technorati.com\/tags\/Reporting\" rel=\"tag\">Reporting<\/a><\/div><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I had a problem this week when I was trying to run some reports in OpsMgr 2007 R2.\u00a0 Some reports were failing \u2026 either issues to do with \u201cLT_Report\u201d, missing parameters or internal failures.\u00a0 If I played with the time settings for the report criteria then sometimes I\u2019d get a result but not the one &hellip;
