{"id":9795,"date":"2009-07-24T10:24:00","date_gmt":"1999-11-29T20:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aidanfinn.com\/?p=9795"},"modified":"2009-07-24T10:24:00","modified_gmt":"1999-11-29T20:00:00","slug":"remote-desktop-ip-virtualization","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aidanfinn.com\/?p=9795","title":{"rendered":"Remote Desktop IP Virtualization"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is a feature I\u2019d heard of once or twice in passing but never really looked into.\u00a0 The idea is that you can assign unique IP address to either a user session or to an application on a Terminal Server.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 Mainly it\u2019s to do with compatibility with applications or compliance with regulations where sessions are identified by an IP address.\u00a0 Normally everyone on a Terminal Server is using the single IP of that server.\u00a0 That might cause a problem with some situations.\u00a0 Microsoft details some of those <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.msdn.com\/rds\/archive\/2009\/07\/09\/configuring-remote-desktop-ip-virtualization-part-1.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>They continue to talk briefly about how to configure it in that post.\u00a0 A <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.msdn.com\/rds\/archive\/2009\/07\/15\/configuring-remote-desktop-ip-virtualization-ii.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">follow up post<\/a> talks about how to configure Remote Desktop IP Virtualisation using Group Policy. <\/p>\n<p>Finally, there is a document you can <a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/downloads\/details.aspx?displaylang=en&amp;FamilyID=11a2145c-0b61-4b98-848e-3c8e80ee736f#tm\" target=\"_blank\">download<\/a> from Microsoft that covers the subject.<\/p>\n<p><a><\/a><em>\u201cRemote Desktop IP Virtualization provides administrators the ability to assign a unique IP address to a program that is available by using RemoteApp and Desktop Connection.
