I\u2019ve been reading on forums that people are suspecting if Conficker is being hyped by bored newsrooms and antivirus companies eager to keep subscriptions going in a downwards economy.\u00a0 I\u2019ve just been watching CNN and I\u2019m leaning towards the cynical point of view *how strange for me!*\n<\/p>\n
There is a real threat.\u00a0 No doubt there.\u00a0 But is it really as bad as reported?\u00a0 I\u2019ve just been watching CNN and it\u2019s up there with the \u201cIs this the End of Days\u201d reporting from a few years ago.\u00a0 Newsrooms thrive on fear.\u00a0 People are addicted to it.\u00a0 It sells papers, drives up web page hits and most importantly, it sells advertising.\n<\/p>\n
CNN had some AV guy on who suggested everyone buy AV software and subscriptions.\u00a0 What a shocker!\u00a0 They read some Twitter tweets.\u00a0 Everyone questioned the reality of the threat except one message from a security consultant.\u00a0 CNN\u2019s advice was pathetic:<\/p>\n
