{"id":9571,"date":"2009-03-31T14:11:00","date_gmt":"1999-11-29T20:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aidanfinn.com\/?p=9571"},"modified":"2009-03-31T14:11:00","modified_gmt":"1999-11-29T20:00:00","slug":"google-ventures-for-start-ups","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aidanfinn.com\/?p=9571","title":{"rendered":"Google Ventures For Start Ups"},"content":{"rendered":"<\/p>\n<p>Google has <a href=\"http:\/\/googleblog.blogspot.com\/2009\/03\/googles-newest-venture.html\" target=\"_blank\">launched<\/a> a new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/ventures\" target=\"_blank\">program<\/a> called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/ventures\" target=\"_blank\">Google Ventures<\/a> to invest funds in start-ups <em>\u201cincluding consumer Internet, software, hardware, clean-tech, bio-tech, health care and others\u201d<\/em>.\u00a0 They say they are interested in <em>\u201centrepreneurs who are tackling problems in creative and innovative ways. As a venture fund, however, we&#8217;re also looking for investments with the potential for significant financial return\u201d.<\/em> <\/p>\n<p>It looks like this is an investment fund rather than an assistance program like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/BizSpark\/\" target=\"_blank\">Microsoft\u2019s BizSpark<\/a>.\u00a0 There is room for both and I can see people trying to avail of both.\u00a0 I hope both parties play nice with each other because they have a lot to offer.\u00a0 I\u2019ve seen first hand how BizSpark is helping people get businesses of the ground.\u00a0 I\u2019ve also seen how BizCamp programs are educating people.\u00a0 New innovations tend to come from small companies.\u00a0 Ireland in particular is relying on the emergence of some of these startups to reinvigorate our economy and bring about lasting employment.\u00a0 Hopefully these programs will continue to help.  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Google has launched a new program called Google Ventures to invest funds in start-ups \u201cincluding consumer Internet, software, hardware, clean-tech, bio-tech, health care and others\u201d.\u00a0 They say they are interested in \u201centrepreneurs who are tackling problems in creative and innovative ways.
