{"id":9055,"date":"2008-05-26T17:13:00","date_gmt":"1999-11-29T20:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aidanfinn.com\/?p=9055"},"modified":"2008-05-26T17:13:00","modified_gmt":"1999-11-29T20:00:00","slug":"hp-proliant-servers-and-scom-2007","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aidanfinn.com\/?p=9055","title":{"rendered":"HP Proliant Servers and SCOM 2007"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As you&#8217;ve probably guessed based on my recent posts, I&#8217;m doing a SCOM 2007 deployment.\u00a0 The servers are a mix of IBM (managed by IBM Director) and HP (managed by HP Insight Manager Agents supplied by the PSP V8.0).<\/p>\n<p>On deploying agents to the HP servers I started getting inundated by faults:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Foundation Agent kept failing.\u00a0 Some research found I wasn&#8217;t alone.\u00a0 Someone on the HP support forum claimed that HP said they fixed this in V8.1 of the PSP or the agents.\u00a0 I downloaded the agents and tried it.\u00a0 Things quieted down &#8230; a little.<\/li>\n<li>Performance monitoring errors.\u00a0 Lots of them.\u00a0 Go into Control Panel &#8211; HP Insight Manager (or something like that) and remove the Performance agent in there.<\/li>\n<li>Management Processor critical errors: HP enabled the ILO and ILO monitoring agent by default.\u00a0 This is a pain if you don&#8217;t actually use ILO and it alerts if a cable isn&#8217;t connected to the ILO port.\u00a0 You can do the Control Panel fix to remove the remote monitoring agent.\u00a0 You still get an error in the HP Insight Manager web page but the agents don&#8217;t report it to SCOM anymore.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As you&#8217;ve probably guessed based on my recent posts, I&#8217;m doing a SCOM 2007 deployment.\u00a0 The servers are a mix of IBM (managed by IBM Director) and HP (managed by HP Insight Manager Agents supplied by the PSP V8.0).
