{"id":8863,"date":"2007-03-09T13:07:00","date_gmt":"1999-11-29T20:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aidanfinn.com\/?p=8863"},"modified":"2007-03-09T13:07:00","modified_gmt":"1999-11-29T20:00:00","slug":"symantec-buys-4frontsecurity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aidanfinn.com\/?p=8863","title":{"rendered":"Symantec Buys 4FrontSecurity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Register is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theregister.co.uk\/2007\/03\/09\/symantec_buys_british\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">reporting<\/a> that Symantec is buying a firm called 4FrontSecurity.\u00a0 I&#8217;m sure they&#8217;re a great company with a great product but I&#8217;m not interested in this with regards to this story.<\/p>\n<p>As you may or may not know, Microsoft started branding their security products under the &quot;Forefront&quot; banner last year, e.g. Forefront Client Security.\u00a0 We all know that Symantec are ticked off with Microsoft for entering the corporate anti-malware market.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>Call me paranoid (some do &#8230; but I&#8217;ve always been right, eh Baz?)\u00a0 but you wouldn&#8217;t think that maybe Symantec bought a firm called 4FrontSecurity so that they could stake a claim to any naming of security products called 4Front <em>or<\/em> Forefront?\u00a0 I&#8217;m not saying that&#8217;s their motivation or that it has even crossed their minds.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t know what 4FrontSecurity does &#8230; maybe they do have fantastic products and people that are worthy of an acquisition.\u00a0 But it does make me wonder.<\/p>\n<p><em>Credit:<\/em> <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theregister.co.uk\/2007\/03\/09\/symantec_buys_british\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Register<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Register is reporting that Symantec is buying a firm called 4FrontSecurity.\u00a0 I&#8217;m sure they&#8217;re a great company with a great product but I&#8217;m not interested in this with regards to this story.
