I just saw a recent update<\/a> on the Vista team blog that will answer a lot of questions for a lot of people.\u00a0 There are SIX<\/em><\/u><\/strong> (!) versions of Windows Vista:<\/p>\n

  1. Windows Vista Starter: Only sold in developing world markets at a much lower cost than normal.<\/li>\n
  2. Windows Vista Home Basic: Basic functionality and security.\u00a0 No Aero interface.<\/li>\n
  3. Windows Vista Home Premium: Aero interface, Media Center, and home networking.<\/li>\n
  4. Windows Vista Business: Likely to be the most common one on business networks.\u00a0 Aero interface, RDP and backup functionality.\u00a0 No Media Center functionality.<\/li>\n
  5. Windows Vista Enterprise: Only available to Software Assurance customers.\u00a0 Boooo!<\/li>\n
  6. Windows Vista Ultimate: The be all and end all of Windows Vista.\u00a0 An extra set of downloads adding extra functionality is available for Vista Ultimate users.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Six\u00a0versions, eh?\u00a0 At least it isn’t as complicated as Office 2007 \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

    Which one of the six you purchase will have implications, e.g. lower costs =\u00a0less features.\u00a0 You will need to chose the right one or mix of versions for your organisation.<\/p>\n
