{"id":14373,"date":"2013-03-20T15:04:07","date_gmt":"2013-03-20T15:04:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aidanfinn.com\/?p=14373"},"modified":"2013-03-20T15:04:07","modified_gmt":"2013-03-20T15:04:07","slug":"windows-8you-already-own-this-app-but-its-missing-or-not-installed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aidanfinn.com\/?p=14373","title":{"rendered":"Windows 8\u2013\u201cYou Already Own This App\u201d But It\u2019s Missing Or Not Installed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I just had a weird issue where some apps got messed up on my Windows 8 PC at work.&#160; They disappeared.&#160; I went onto the Windows Store to re-install them but according to the store:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>You already own this app<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Sure, I might \u201cown\u201d it, but it\u2019s not installed.&#160; How do I fix that?<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not obvious but there is a way to sort it out in the Windows Store:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Open the Windows Store.<\/li>\n<li>Left click or swipe from the top, and click\/touch Your Apps.<\/li>\n<li>In the top left change Apps Not Installed On This PC to Apps Installed On &lt;Name Of Device&gt;.&#160; This is because the store <em>thinks<\/em> that the app is actually installed.<\/li>\n<li>Click\/touch the app(s) that is missing.<\/li>\n<li>In the bottom, click Install.&#160; This is \u2026 a repair I suppose.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Bob\u2019s your uncle!<\/p>\n<p><em>Note: This does not seem to work with the default Microsoft apps.&#160; I don\u2019t have a solution for this yet.<\/em><\/p>\n<div id=\"scid:0767317B-992E-4b12-91E0-4F059A8CECA8:9c3a716c-4578-4de4-821f-cc7c95f0efb7\" class=\"wlWriterEditableSmartContent\" style=\"float: none; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px\">Technorati Tags: <a href=\"http:\/\/technorati.com\/tags\/Windows+8\" rel=\"tag\">Windows 8<\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I just had a weird issue where some apps got messed up on my Windows 8 PC at work.&#160; They disappeared.&#160; I went onto the Windows Store to re-install them but according to the store: You already own this app Sure, I might \u201cown\u201d it, but it\u2019s not installed.&#160; How do I fix that?
