{"id":14307,"date":"2013-03-13T10:00:00","date_gmt":"2013-03-13T10:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aidanfinn.com\/?p=14307"},"modified":"2013-03-13T10:00:00","modified_gmt":"2013-03-13T10:00:00","slug":"kb2776366-0x0000000a-stop-error-on-w2008-r2-hyper-v-host-that-has-many-passthrough-disks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aidanfinn.com\/?p=14307","title":{"rendered":"KB2776366 &#8211; &#8220;0x0000000A&#8221; Stop Error On W2008 R2 Or WS2012 Hyper-V Host That Has Many Passthrough Disks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>This KB article originally only mentioned Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V.\u00a0 It was updated in June 2013 to include Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Two points:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Consider kicking the person responsible for the use of passthrough disks that are smaller than 2040 GB (I\u2019ll allow that 1 qualifier for W2008 R2) in the family jewels.\u00a0 Once for every found passthrough disk.\u00a0 With this apparent genetic disposition, they shouldn\u2019t be allowed to breed anyway \u2026 in my opinion.<\/li>\n<li>There is a <a href=\"http:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/kb\/2776366\" target=\"_blank\">KB article<\/a> on this scenario.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<blockquote><p>Consider the following scenario:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You have the Hyper-V role installed on a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows Server 2012.<\/li>\n<li>You have a virtual machine stored on the computer.<\/li>\n<li>There are many pass-through disks assigned to the virtual machine.<\/li>\n<li>Heavy I\/O operations occur over the pass-through disks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In this scenario, the system may crash.
