Tools such as System Center Configuration Manager (larger deployments) and Cluster Aware Updating should make this easier.&#160; <\/p>\n<p>Consultants, in my opinion, should be maintaining a customised installer of Windows Server 2012 by <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.technet.com\/b\/configmgrdogs\/archive\/2012\/02\/15\/applying-windows-updates-to-a-base-wim-using-dism-and-powershell.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">applying this updates to the install.wim file<\/a>.&#160; This would mean you update the installer every time a new update is released (and verified to be OK \u2013 monitor the news feeds).&#160; Every new install of WS2012 would be done from this updated installer and be up to date by default.<\/p>\n<p>I did find a <a href=\"http:\/\/gallery.technet.microsoft.com\/scriptcenter\/839ee6f0-196f-4ed7-ac55-8e753c5d5ebe\" target=\"_blank\">script<\/a> that claims to do it for WIM and VHD files.&#160; I\u2019ve not tried it, and I\u2019ve no idea if it will work with VHDX.&#160; That would also be a nice solution, especially for boot from VHD, assuming that it works.<\/p>\n<div id=\"scid:0767317B-992E-4b12-91E0-4F059A8CECA8:5edcd27d-32ee-4e54-a3c0-f25f5de1a801\" class=\"wlWriterEditableSmartContent\" style=\"float: none;
