{"id":12248,"date":"2012-03-16T11:29:52","date_gmt":"2012-03-16T11:29:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aidanfinn.com\/?p=12248"},"modified":"2012-03-16T11:29:52","modified_gmt":"2012-03-16T11:29:52","slug":"kb2686812-w2008-and-w2008-r2-may-hang-on-boot-with-hyper-v-role-enabled","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aidanfinn.com\/?p=12248","title":{"rendered":"KB2686812 &#8211; W2008 and W2008 R2 May Hang On Boot With Hyper-V Role Enabled"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new Hyper-V <a href=\"http:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/kb\/2686812\/en-us?sd=rss&amp;spid=14134\" target=\"_blank\">KB article<\/a> appeared online overnight for a situation where Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 may hang on boot with the Hyper-V role enabled.&#160; <\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cConsider the following scenario:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Install Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Enable the Hyper-V Role under Server Roles.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>The machine hangs or encounters a 0x3E bugcheck&#160; (MULTIPROCESSOR_CONFIGURATION_NOT_SUPPORTED) after you restart the machine.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>On a system with Mixed Processor Steppings, the Memory type range registers are not consistent across all the processors.
