{"id":11920,"date":"2011-12-02T15:20:44","date_gmt":"2011-12-02T15:20:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aidanfinn.com\/?p=11920"},"modified":"2011-12-02T15:20:44","modified_gmt":"2011-12-02T15:20:44","slug":"linux-integration-services-v3-2-for-rhel-centos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aidanfinn.com\/?p=11920","title":{"rendered":"Linux Integration Services v3.2 for RHEL &#038; CentOS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Microsoft has updated the <a href=\"http:\/\/207.46.154.156\/downloads\/en\/details.aspx?FamilyID=216de3c4-f598-4dff-8a4e-257d4b7a1c12\" target=\"_blank\">Linux Integration Services<\/a> (aka integration components or the Hyper-V enlightenments) from v3.1 to v.3.2 supporting Redhat Enterprise Linux (x86 and x64, 6.0 and 6.1) and CentOS 6.0 (x86 and x64).<\/p>\n<p>I think no new features are listed.&#160; My <em><a href=\"http:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/kb\/2586286\" target=\"_blank\">guess<\/a><\/em> is that v3.2 includes a fix&#160; or workaround for Key Value Pair exchange and SCVMM.&#160; But that is a guess.&#160; I\u2019ll try to find out more.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll continue to use <a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/download\/en\/details.aspx?id=24247\" target=\"_blank\">Linux Integration Services 2.1<\/a> for SLES 10 and RHEL 5.<\/p>\n<p>EDIT #1: <\/p>\n<p>I did some comparisons between 3.1 and 3.2 text and noticed this is added in 3.2:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIntegrated Mouse Support: The cursor is no longer bound to the VMConnect window when used with the Linux Graphical User Interface\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>EDIT #2:<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/#!\/mikester01\" target=\"_blank\">Mike Sterling<\/a> (Program Manager at Microsoft) for sharing the following info on new features in the V3.2 Integration Services:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Synthetic Mouse Support: The virtualized mouse device is no longer bound to the VMConnect window, and can now be used with a RDP session.<\/li>\n<li>Merged Device Drivers: We now present a single device driver for both IDE and SCSI devices (hv_storvsc).<\/li>\n<li>Windows 8 Fix: The synthetic network device (hv_netvsc) can now be used with a Windows 8 host, eliminating the hang on boot that was previously seen.<\/li>\n<li>SCVMM Fix: This release fixes the issue as described in <a href=\"http:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/kb\/2586286\">KB2586286<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Improved Setup Experience: Users now only need to run install.sh (as root) to automatically detect the correct architecture and install the appropriate drivers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div style=\"padding-bottom: 0px; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: none; padding-top: 0px\" id=\"scid:0767317B-992E-4b12-91E0-4F059A8CECA8:ca33923e-b064-4ab0-86b3-8d62bdad61ef\" class=\"wlWriterEditableSmartContent\">Technorati Tags: <a href=\"http:\/\/technorati.com\/tags\/Hyper-V\" rel=\"tag\">Hyper-V<\/a>,<a href=\"http:\/\/technorati.com\/tags\/Virtualisation\" rel=\"tag\">Virtualisation<\/a>,<a href=\"http:\/\/technorati.com\/tags\/Windows+Server+2008+R2\" rel=\"tag\">Windows Server 2008 R2<\/a>,<a href=\"http:\/\/technorati.com\/tags\/Linux\" rel=\"tag\">Linux<\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Microsoft has updated the Linux Integration Services (aka integration components or the Hyper-V enlightenments) from v3.1 to v.3.2 supporting Redhat Enterprise Linux (x86 and x64, 6.0 and 6.1) and CentOS 6.0 (x86 and x64).
