{"id":10756,"date":"2010-08-09T09:47:45","date_gmt":"2010-08-09T09:47:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aidanfinn.com\/?p=10756"},"modified":"2010-08-09T09:47:45","modified_gmt":"2010-08-09T09:47:45","slug":"thinktank-airport-acceleration-v2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aidanfinn.com\/?p=10756","title":{"rendered":"Thinktank Airport Acceleration V2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Meet my baby:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/jrcamerahouse.com.au\/images\/canon_ef_500_is_usm.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"227\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s a Canon EF 500mm L IS lens.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a <em>big<\/em> puppy and I use it for wildlife photography.\u00a0 I bought it a short while ago with the intention on travelling with it by flight.\u00a0 There is no way I was going to check it in.\u00a0 It would come with me as carry on baggage.\u00a0 I spent ages trying to find a bag that would comply with Ryanairs carry on baggage allowance (55*40*20 centimetres) and fit the lens.\u00a0 I found many that came close but were always slightly too big.\u00a0 Eventually my buddy Jimi (a pro photographer also in the IT business) told me to go to the Thinktank website.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There I found the Airport Accelerator V2.\u00a0 It would take my big lens, a camera, another lens (the EF 100-400 L IS), my two TCons, my image tank and my GPS.\u00a0 It also has a pocket for a laptop but that puts it beyond 20CM in depth.\u00a0 It comes with a huge array of spare padded inserts so you can configure the bag as required, and a 15&#8243; laptop sleeve.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/reviews.photographyreview.com\/files\/2008\/11\/airport-acceleration-v20.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"375\" height=\"279\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I flew to Scotland for the weekend with Ryanair.\u00a0 For the uninitiated, Ryanair is a budget airline that makes\u00a0 profits from catching people out.\u00a0 For example, they have measurement frames at the gates for carry on baggage.\u00a0 If your bag doesn&#8217;t fit then it goes into the baggage hold for an additional charge.\u00a0\u00a0 I check my bag at the airport &#8230; it fit, even with all the load in it.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a really great bag.\u00a0 There is a water proof cover inside.\u00a0 There are nice thick backpack straps that tuck away under velcro flaps.\u00a0 The back straps have elasticated pockets which are just the right size for a mobile phone.\u00a0 There is a transparent pocket at the top for a business card.\u00a0 There is another pocket under that that is the right size for a wallet and passport.\u00a0 These bags are clearly designed by travelling professionals.\u00a0 There&#8217;s even a cabled combination lock that is built into the bag so you can secure it to something solid.<\/p>\n<p>Thinktank have a range of bags, not just for photographers, but for travelling professionals.\u00a0 Check them out if you are in the market for baggage and are struggling with carry on baggage.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Meet my baby: That&#8217;s a Canon EF 500mm L IS lens.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a big puppy and I use it for wildlife photography.\u00a0 I bought it a short while ago with the intention on travelling with it by flight.\u00a0 There is no way I was going to check it in.\u00a0 It would come with me as &hellip;
