{"id":10225,"date":"2009-12-15T18:50:28","date_gmt":"2009-12-15T18:50:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aidanfinn.com\/?p=10225"},"modified":"2009-12-15T18:50:28","modified_gmt":"2009-12-15T18:50:28","slug":"kb974909-heavy-outgoing-network-traffic-causes-hyper-v-network-outages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aidanfinn.com\/?p=10225","title":{"rendered":"KB974909: Heavy Outgoing Network Traffic Causes Hyper-V Network Outages"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Microsoft <a href=\"http:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/kb\/974909\" target=\"_blank\">released<\/a> a patch for Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V host servers.&#160; It fixes a problem where VM\u2019s are experiencing heavy outgoing network traffic loads.&#160; This can cause the virtual NIC to fail and the only way to fix it (otherwise) is to restart the VM.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cConsider the following scenario: <\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>You install the Hyper-V role on a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 R2.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>You run a virtual machine on the computer.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>You use a network adapter on the virtual machine to access a network.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>You establish many concurrent network connections, or there is heavy outgoing network traffic.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>In this scenario, the network connection on the virtual machine may be lost.
